Tax Collector/ Utility Billing

Welcome to the Tax Collector’s office. We strive in our office to provide all taxpayers courteous, experienced and prompt service.

*The Tax Collector is responsible for the collection of taxes levied on all properties in Margate. These include Municipal, county, library, school, health and open space taxes. The Tax Collector is also responsible for billing and collecting water and sewer.

*Property tax bills are mailed once a year in July and contain four quarterly payment coupons.

*Property taxes are due on February 1st, May 1st, August 1st and November 1st. There is a 10-day grace period after which interest is applied in accordance with New Jersey State Tax Law N.J.S.A. 54:4-66.

* NJSA 54:4-66 states: Failure to receive a tax bill does not exempt you from paying taxes or delinquent interest on taxes, it is the property owner’s responsibility to ascertain from the proper official (Tax Collector) the amount due.

*Payments may be made by mail, online or in person. A drop box is located to the right of the main door at 9001 Winchester for after hours payments.
