Water Meter Replacement Project

The Margate City Commissioners recently approved the first two of five phases. This is a multi-year project with phase 1 almost complete, we will begin phase 2 in the next few weeks.

Phase 2 will consist of installing new water meters and radio transmitters. This will take approximately 30 mins per house under normal circumstances. Your water will have to be shut off during this time frame. All work will be done outside in your water meter pit. Pit is usually located near curb in front of house.

The company doing the work is VEPO Solutions out of New York. Their personnel will have credentials on them at all times.

The reason for this project is because the city’s water meters are over 24 years old and in dire need of replacement. The life expectancy of a water meter is 20 years. With that being said we are well over the limit. Every year we see more and more broken meters. Benefits and advantages of replacement: More efficient since it allows for readings to be done remotely, provides an energy efficient, accurate , and cost effective way to read water meter data, more accurate billing process, aides in the detection of leaks and easy access to data for customer questions.
